SUMMARY:Fostering Inclusivity in Research Computing and Data: Case Studie
s, Best Practices, and Scaling Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Kathryn Kelley (Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation
(CASC))\n\nIn the pursuit of advancing research computing and data (RCD) T
eam Science, it is crucial to embrace inclusivity and broaden engagement a
cross diverse academic institutions. This CASC-shared SC23 Inclusivity ses
sion aims to facilitate discussions and knowledge sharing among all partic
ipants on how to foster greater involvement among Minority-Serving Institu
tions (MSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tri
bal Colleges (TCUs) and the CASC higher education institution and high per
formance computing center members traditionally connected to the RCD enter
prise.\n \nThis session will bring together case studies from MSIs, HBCUs
and TCUs and CASC member partners. These case studies will not only showca
se achievements but also delve into the strategies employed to replicate t
hese successes. Attendees will explore best practices for building replica
ble, sustainable, scalable collaborations without imposing an undue burden
the partner institutions involved.\n \nDiscussions will center around def
ining what success looks like in the context of inclusivity and the tangib
le goals that should be pursued to achieve it. Participants will discuss p
otential funding opportunities to support these institutional partnerships
to enhance research computing infrastructure and support.\n \nWhile signi
ficant strides have been made to integrate inclusivity into research compu
ting, this session will also explore areas where gaps still exist. Attende
es will have the opportunity to identify challenges, potential barriers, a
nd strategies for overcoming them. By collectively exploring these issues,
the session will work towards a more comprehensive and sustainable approa
ch to broadening engagement in research computing and data sciences.\n \nW
e welcome participation from all SC23 attendees and all institutions with
an interest in the topic.\n\nTag: Inclusivity\n\nRegistration Category: Te
