SUMMARY:Understanding Community Perspectives on HPC Skills and Training Pa
 thways
DESCRIPTION:Weronika Filinger (Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC),
University of Edinburgh) and Jeremy Cohen (Imperial College, London)\n\nT
he “Understanding the Skills and Pathways Behind Research Software Trainin
g” BoF session run at ISC’23 provided an opportunity to gather attendees i
nterested in enhancing skills within the RSE community. This included look
ing at options for understanding and developing pathways that practitioner
s can follow to develop their skills and competencies in a structured mann
er from beginner to advanced level. \n\nDuring the session a live, anonymo
us survey was conducted. Participants were asked several questions includi
ng their role in the training community and how easy they feel it is to fi
nd/access training content targeting different skill levels. They were als
o asked about challenges faced in accessing relevant content, combining it
into a coherent pathway, and linking training content from different sour
ces.\n\nThe goal of this lightning talk is to present findings, within the
context of the community wide effort to make the training materials more
FAIR - findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.\n\nTag: Educatio
n, State of the Practice\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop Reg Pass\n\nSe
