SUMMARY:13th International Workshop on Runtime and Operating Systems for S
 upercomputers (ROSS)
DESCRIPTION:Balazs Gerofi (Intel Corporation, RIKEN); Torsten Hoefler (ETH
Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Microsoft Corporation); a
nd Kamil Iskra (Argonne National Laboratory (ANL))\n\nThe complexity of no
de architectures in supercomputers increases as we cross milestones on the
way toward exascale and beyond. Increasing levels of parallelism in multi
 - and many-core chips and emerging heterogeneity of computational resource
s coupled with energy and memory constraints force a reevaluation of our a
pproaches towards operating systems and runtime environments.\n\nThe Inter
national Workshop on Runtime and Operating Systems for Supercomputers (ROS
 S) provides a forum for researchers to exchange ideas and discuss research
questions that are relevant to upcoming supercomputers and cloud environm
ents for high-performance computing. In addition to typical workshop publi
cations, we encourage novel and possibly immature ideas, provided that the
y are interesting and on-topic. Well-argued position papers are also welco
me.\n\nTag: Middleware and System Software, Programming Frameworks and Sys
tem Software, Runtime Systems\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop Reg Pass\
n\nSession Chairs: Balazs Gerofi (Intel Corporation, RIKEN Center for Comp
utational Science (R-CCS)); Torsten Hoefler (ETH Zürich, Microsoft Corpora
tion); and Kamil Iskra (Argonne National Laboratory (ANL))\n\n
